Right now me and some friends are dreaming and beginning to realize a church plant that we hope will take root in the coming years. There are 10 or 12 of us, some more loosely connected than others who are meeting to share with each other and pool our strengths.
This isn't a conventional small group though. We are spread out all over Ontario Canada and are meeting with each other through a Ning group and in weekly Skype chats as well as any other chances we get to connect.
Eventually our plan is to meet regularly in a physical space. We aren't moving toward a purely cyberspace church.
I'm wondering if anyone else has been involved in a similar venture or knows of anyone that has and could provide encouragement, advice or questions?
Hey david, some friends and I are dreaming of something in Winston Salem, N.C. The thing is we are only in the conversation phase. We are thinking about moving toward a leadership team that can work together toward the dream and we are talking to a lot of people. I have been involved in a previous church plant and though a wonderful experience it did not last over five years. I may know more about what not to do than what to do. But I would certainly encourage you to keep dreaming. and if there are 10-12 of you moving together, thats a really good start.
thanks, beverly. its been really amazing to see folks gravitate to what we are doing. on the surface it doesn't seem like there is much there to really draw anyone, but obviously it is connecting. It's amazing what happens when you begin to plan positively toward a hopeful future.
