How do you describe being an emergent baptist?
I think that almost by definition, to be Baptist is to be emergent. Baptists were, in many way, post-modern before modernity had really gotten a hold on the world.

Then again, this might just be me channeling Bill Leonard.
What do you love to do?
Lots of stuff. Reading, hiking, camping, sailing, fishing, watching college football (Geaux Tigers and Go Deacs!)

But I am in grad school, so I read and write papers.
What books have meant the most to you?
All of them.

Seriously, I have a serious thing for books. They are just totally magical for me.

If I had to pick one or two:
Lord of the Rings
Jack and the Beanstalk
Politics of Jesus
What music best articulates your soul?
Yes.

My favorite band is the Drive-by Truckers. A kinda PoMo attempt to reengage and reinterpret what it means to be a Southerner with out loosing sight of the bad.
Who are the historical baptist personalities you identify with most?
Truth be told, I have only been a member of Baptist World for a relatively short time, so I am not totally sure.

In the 20th century:
Clarence Jordan
Martin Luther King, Jr
Will Campbell
Who are the theologians, philosophers, teachers, etc. that you live in dialog with?
I really like the postliberals, particularly Lindbeck, Hauerwas, and Yoder. Also, I like Liberation Theology and would like to bring it into harmony with the postliberals.

Sartre's "Existentialism is a Humanism" gives me the warm-fuzzies.

Grew up with my mother quoting Tillich to me. Bonhoffer too.

Gaining an appreciation for Barth.

Want to read Moltmann. And Pannenburg. I mean I am at the school where Frank Tupper teaches. It is like a requirement to like those guys.

Also, I want to gain a greater understanding of Evangelical Theology.

Deep-ecology is pretty cool. Would like to see a Christian Theology of deep-ecology.

Martin Luther King was one of the best "pulpit theologians" ever.

Gandhi is pretty rad.

I distrust mysticism and wish that I didn't.

My mom and dad rock my socks.
