Narrative Theology

I am working on a paper for the MTh on the subject of "Narrative Theology". This is a convenient title that I am seeking to shape through my own journey in conversation with George Lindbeck's book "The Nature of Doctrine" as well as Gabriel Fackre.

Basically I am wanting to explore the "taxi conversations" and see how I interact with unchurched "stories" and how they intersect with my "story" and also consider what the role of the Holy Spirit is in this process. I have a basic model set up and am currently trying to put it all together.

I want to move away from a propositional model and explore other ways of journeying with people towards the gospel message. Part of my research is thinking through what "gospel" means. It is exciting and confronting to be preparing this paper while getting my hands dirty doing evangelism to unchurched people.

I had a drink this afternoon with a young lady in her 20s who hasn't even done School Scripture and is completely ignorant of the basics of the Bible story. I have become good friends with her boyfriend and herself and it was a privilege to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon as the only Christian warmly welcomed into this gathering of friends and sharing stories together.
